Charlie or in this case slime is a god but dont let the others know that.
Thats a secret the world is not yet ready for, or maybe charlie just wants to enjoy the simple life of a mortal a little while longer.Or multiple stories and scenarios where slime tries his best to keep his god hood a secret.
Or or i put scu and dsmp all on a timeline poor slime all lived thru and now we see how that effects him in dsmp.

It was a long abandoned shrine, moss and vines slowly returning the structure to something of forgotten history. That was until a blonde hybrid and flower nymph(?) stumble across the relic.
"It was just a secret project we worked on. Something that we had all on our own. Something Dream wouldn't destroy. We didn't know it was for Gods."

Maybe the gods are their salvation from torment.
