Summary
Eddie takes a step closer and cups Buck’s jaw, tilts his head slightly, pressing a quick kiss above his eye, right where his birthmark is. “See you in a bit,” he says.
Buck stammers for a second, face blushed, “Uh, I—I’ll wait?” he coughs, “Yeah, see you. Bye.”
(Or, five times Eddie kisses Buck’s birthmark in a perfectly friendly way, plus one time he kisses the man himself, and yeah, that isn’t best friend behaviour at all.)

Summary
Heat and vibration shook through him, his body a taut, quivering wire. He was so close now he could taste it, the sharpest edge of pleasure, Buck's imagined voice goading him toward it, right there right there right—
The sharp sound of metal on metal rang out in the room—a key fumbling in the front door.
Eddie pulled his sweats up so fast he nearly toppled off of the couch. He grabbed for the lube, hid it between the cushions, shot a hand out to grab his phone—and sent it flying across the room.
Oh god. Oh fuck.
The door opened and Eddie pulled a pillow over his lap—bit down on his lip. Hard.
He could feel his heartbeat up in his throat, on the back of his tongue. The vibrator was still buzzing inside of him.
“Hey, Eddie.” Buck called out, bright and cheerful as he walked around to the other side of the couch, sitting down next to Eddie, and oh god— “Whatcha watching?”

Summary
Curling in on himself, Buck coughs in earnest, hacking violently enough that he tastes bits of copper on his tongue. Eyes watering, struggling to breathe, Buck shifts to his hands and knees. The vials roll away, leaving him with a free hand to pound against his sternum. The sensation of something crawling up his neck, choking him, has panic setting in until it’s finally free. Something plops onto the floor with an unsettling wetness.
Looking down, he sees a full grown string of honeysuckle, roots and all, tainted with splatters of blood in the silvery moonlight. Its nectar still lingers on his lips, sugary, delicate, ominous. The message is clear. Buck leans his forehead on the floor, and screams.
Even knowing this love would eventually kill him, for Eddie, he’ll let it.
✽⊱ ⚘ ⊰✽
Buck's looking death down the barrel, yet again, this time in the form of Hanahaki. Eddie's leaving for Texas, Maddie's struggling in the aftermath of being kidnapped, Bobby has yet another specter of his past coming to haunt him. Buck will let himself strangle on the blossoms of his own unspoken love rather than ruin what little he has left.

Summary
“I love it when you angels get all preachy," the stranger says, words laced with mild amusement. "Like humans are actually capable of the good stuff.”
You angels.
Eddie finally turns, just enough to get a look at him. The man has tousled curls, a grin built for trouble, and eyes far too bright for the winter’s darkness. The kind of gaze that sees through things and enjoys the damage.
A demon, then.
Eddie’s jaw tightens. “They are.”
“You’re adorable,” the demon grins, slow and lazy.-
Eddie follows the divine plan. Buck never believed in one.
And so, every time the world cracks open, they find each other on opposite sides.Bookmarked by Demurepuppet

Summary
Really, Eddie doesn’t care that the PTA aren’t his biggest fan. He knows he misses too many meetings, and it’s not like he’s best friends with any of the other parents. It doesn’t affect Christopher, so it doesn’t bother him. He’ll pay for the annual fundraising mugs and consider his duty done.
But then Buck picks Christopher up from a class trip and it all goes to hell.
Like, of course Buck is everyone’s dream guy. He’s responsible with kids, and kind, and funny and interesting and hot to touch. That’s obvious. But now Eddie’s fighting to keep the PTA moms, teachers, and dads, all off an unsuspecting and tempting Buck.
Because Eddie is a good friend. Right?

Summary
“Eddie,” Buck pleads, hands out like he’s placating an angry animal. “It’s me, it’s Buck- please, let me help you.”
“I am fine!” He screams. “Stop looking at me, everyone stop- go away!”
The crowd murmurs but no one moves. He sees Bobby and Hen pacing up behind Buck. They are afraid.
“Eds, you’re scaring me,” Buck whispers, his eyes so glossy. “You’re bleeding so- so much.”

Summary
“Buck, this is Eddie Diaz," Bobby says, "the new recruit.”
Eddie removes his hat with one hand and lends his hand to shake with the other. Buck eyes it like he just used it to pick his nose. “I’m sorry, what are your qualifications?” he asks, folding his arms over his chest. “Aside from standing there and looking pretty, that is.”

"Buck gazes at him in such a way that sets Eddie entirely at ease. It’s a look that he’s been yearning to receive from someone, anyone, for probably his entire life. It’s open and earnest, enraptured and affectionate. It is blatant love, right there so clear in Buck’s crystal eyes."

Summary
Amidst all his spiralling, Buck was reaching for the tablet. Eddie couldn’t even speak, his mouth had dried up and his heart was beating so fast he thought it might burst out of his chest and fly across the table. Not because he couldn’t trust Buck, because he knows he can with every fiber of his being, but because this is not how he wanted his news to come out. This feels like an ambush, for both him and Buck.
But it was too late. Buck was lunging and turning the tablet round before Eddie could even jump forward.
“Bu-” Eddie managed to blurt out, sucking on his lip as a way to cope with his anxiety. But the look in Buck’s eyes was already there. A mixture of confusion and shock and concern all in one.
“D-do you ever fantasize about being with someone of the same -” Buck’s eyes widen, flicking rapidly over the screen, “-uh, the same gender?”
Eddie was taking the wikiHow Am I Gay Quiz.
OR; Buck flips the tablet to see Eddie was taking an Am I Gay Quiz. They work it out, in their own way.

Summary
“But the station isn’t cursed or haunted Buck.” Eddie fondly rolls his eyes.
“Maybe it is and none of us know it!”
“I don’t think that’s how it works sweetheart.” He says with exasperation. He doesn’t realize what’s said until he sees the pink blush dusting Buck’s cheeks.
God, he’s cute.
Oh god, he called him sweetheart.
Out loud.
In front of Hen.
And Chimney.
So everyone is going to know about this by tomorrow.
At least he didn’t call him baby again.

Or 5 times Eddie's feelings for Buck slip out without his permission and the one time he chooses to express them.

Summary
Black spots dotted his vision. Dying here wouldn’t be so bad— Maddie and Daniel would be sad, would probably avenge his death but he knew that his father would sooner whip him for getting caught in the first place— he had nothing to live for.
Except.
Chris was gripping the back of his shirt like his life depended on it and Buck just couldn’t stomach the thought of the boy dying in his arms. So, he kept going, kept running until his legs felt like jelly and his arms felt like they were falling out of their sockets.
Perhaps Buck's fate was doomed the moment he decided to rescue Christopher Diaz from his cruel brother-in-law, had been decided the moment Eddie Diaz's gaze fell onto him-- caught in the man's webs. Grateful for the blond’s part in saving his son, Diaz offered the Buckley’s a deal they couldn’t afford to refuse— he would protect Evan Buckley from an untimely death in the hands of Doug Kendall.
The catch? None, of course.
Eddie wasn’t the type to limit himself when he wanted something, or in this case, one particular someone.

Summary
“Some of us don’t need lighting to look good,” he spat, immediately defensive.
That got a proper laugh of Eddie. Buck straightened to his full height, chest puffing up like he was preparing to get socked, but Eddie simply rolled his short sleeves up, stepping underneath the overhead light before casually stretching his arms in a way that he knew made them look all tight and veiny. He smiled, full of innocent malice, then flexing once to watch Buck short circuit.
“What, like this?” he asked.
A soft, involuntary noise—something between a yelp and a whimper—drew his attention away from his own arms and when he looked up properly, he was treated to the sight of Buck, wide eyed and rosy cheeked, his pink petal mouth parting to gape at Eddie’s biceps.
Eddie quirked an eyebrow. Up close, he could see the way Buck’s pupils had dilated.
Oh.
So that’s what this was.
Buck hadn’t been trying to compete. He’d been trying to impress Eddie.
S1 Probie Buck, jealous of S8 Eddie's competence, tried to start a one sided rivalry with him. Meanwhile, Eddie thought Buck had a big fat crush on him.

Summary
Eddie tries to peek out the windows to see what's out there as he approaches the door, but Buck moves to obstruct his view. "Hey, uh. So. I found … uh, this piece of furniture, on Marketplace. And if you hate it, it's fine. No biggie! I just … it was such a good deal!"
They don't need more furniture. In fact, they actively need less, so Buck wouldn't buy something new without a really good reason.
"Okay, Buck, I trust you. What did you get?"
"It's … I guess, I mean, um. Well, I think you should just come see." Buck turns around before Eddie can reply and heads out the front door.
Eddie stays hot on his heels for barely even one square of sidewalk, stopping in his tracks when he sees the bright red metal frame that's strapped down in Buck's truck bed. It's upright, so Eddie has a clear view of what Buck picked up for them.
It's bunk beds.
Buck and Eddie try to process their grief about Bobby's death and figure out what they mean to each other, all while squeezed into Eddie's two-bedroom house.

Summary
“Okay, this is—” Eddie runs a hand through his hair, growing increasingly distressed, “you guys are purposely missing the point here. Buck, I’m not getting high with you, dude.”
“Uh, why not?” Buck asks, tilting his head. He has the audacity to sound genuinely puzzled.
“We can’t. We’re firefighters,” Eddie says, confused that Buck is confused.
Buck gives him a sad smile. “Not right now, we aren’t. And we won’t be, Eddie, not for a while.”
Buck and Eddie get injured on the job and decide to smoke a lot of weed about it.

Summary
The world has never been a kind place for Eddie.
Well, maybe that’s not so true. Maybe it’s more that two specific people in the world have not been kind to him.
Eddie grew up in a world where magic, real, actual, hand-waving magic, is just a fact of life for some. For others, it’s a dream to see and an impossibility to harness.
For Eddie, though, it was a fault.
His fault.

Summary
He leaned in close, lips brushing Eddie’s ear so he could be heard over the music. “Relax. It’s just a club. Same rules as anywhere else — drinks, dancing, bad decisions.”
Eddie jolted at the closeness, his shoulders tightening, a flush creeping up his neck. “Buck…” He cleared his throat, eyes darting around at the couples pressed close on the dance floor, the guys laughing at the bar. “You didn’t say it was—”
“A gay club?” Buck grinned, deliberately brushing his hand against the small of Eddie’s back as he guided him toward the bar. “Yeah. Kinda the point, Eddie.”

He stood over the body for a moment. The guy was face up, but he was such a mess that it was impossible to make out any distinctive facial features. His eyes were tightly shut.
He might be dead, Buck thought. Testing the theory, he gave him a kick.
“Are you alive?” he asked.
“Unfortunately.”*
