Nefer thinks she’s going to be sick. She grips the report in her hand so tightly that her fingers tremble and draw creases in the paper, and if it isn’t important evidence she’s sure she would have ripped it apart and thrown it into the air.
How could they do this to Lauma? How could they go after the one person that stood for nothing but peace and unity?
Lauma, targeted for her blood, has just barely been rescued from the Experimental Design Bureau.
Nefer refuses to confront her feelings, Lauma refuses to make it any easier for her, and the incident brings them closer than ever before.

“I am… unfamiliar with that term’s sensation,” Ineffa said carefully, “but I believe it applies.”
Jahoda laughed once, incredulously, not cruelly, but from disbelief. “Archons, Ineffa, you’re impossible! You can’t just— you don’t feel things like that. You’re a—”
She stopped herself before saying the word machine, but the silence finished it for her.
The faint glow behind Ineffa’s eyes dimmed. “I see.”
Or: Sometimes Jahoda wishes she could shut her big, stupid mouth. Luckily, Ineffa has a way of shutting it for her.

Elizabeth had barely put her ID back into her pocket before she heard soft but fast footsteps approaching her. Before she had a chance to react, she had arms tightly wrapped around her and heard a loud purring. Any nervousness she was feeling quickly disappeared as she hugged Raora back, sighing contently at the soft feeling of the panther’s tail wrapping around her arm and fluffy ears tickling her chin.
“Liz!! I missed you..” Raora squealed with excitement, nuzzling her face into the crook of Liz’s neck as her hold tightened a little. The taller woman couldn’t stop her growing smile at the strong embrace she was receiving, feeling beyond relieved at the sight of Raora being as energetic as usual.
“..I missed you too, pretty kitty. I couldn’t get your cute face out of my head.” Liz hummed, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of Raora’s head, nearly chuckling at the squeak it got from the panther.

Summary
One was at her collarbone, green vines wrapping around her neck as if to strangle her. The idea made her laugh, and maybe long for such a delicate touch. One strong enough to hold someone broken but gentle enough not to break her further.
The second was a little below the center of the vines and the source of most of the heat. Just a splotch of blue that felt like a comfortable weight. If you squinted, it even looked like a fire. Someone she could lean on, someone who'd keep her warm.
Lastly were the spots. Decorating her chest were imperfect pink spots that she never could find a match for. Granted, she only had the books her parents allowed, but she couldn't wait to meet the one who's spots playfully dotted her skin.
She couldn't wait to figure out who they were, who they all were.

Which is why Fauna had taken in upon herself to latch onto the younger concept’s wrist and led her in the vague direction where she remembered a cave being— not really fully registering at what point before that Mumei had shucked off her cloak and thrown it over the keeper’s shoulders. Luck on their side, seemingly, as they succeeded in finding it just as the storm picked up further.
Making a fire was out of the question, Mumei informs the kirin. Frame shaking as she walks further into the cave— not too far as Fauna had already informed her that she could sense rapid heartbeats somewhere deeper within, nothing that would bother them if left undisturbed.
“I don’t think we should go back out there and try to find dry wood to use. The wind that’s coming in would put it out anyways,” Mumei muses. Idly rubbing up and down her arms to recover some lost warmth. “Man, I really should have gone the snowy owl route this time.” She lets out a small laugh.
