“Ever since I’ve got in that box, it’s like—“ a pause, his throat closing, voice wavering. But Benji’s there, a steadying presence by his side, and Ethan knows that it’s too late to stop now.
“It’s like the world isn’t real. I keep thinking that I’m still in there, in the coffin, and this is all just noise, just it trying to get in my head. And I know that it’s not true. I know that we’re real. But I keep having to check, and I hate it, but I can’t seem to stop.”
“Hey. Look at me, Ethan.” An echo of those same words on the plane, before South Africa, before the Doomsday Bunker and everything after. He looks at him, because he always will, because Benji could tell him to jump off a cliff and he’d do it. And he’s not looking at Ethan like he’s crazy, he’s not looking at him with pity or fear, just some sort of kindness, some sort of affection. Real.

Summary
Ethan’s shivering again.
He knows it’s ridiculous. Knows he shouldn’t be, because it’s a balmy seventy degrees in London, a rare sunny day too at that. And yet he’s still wrapped up in one of Benji’s too-big sweatshirts and jeans and somehow shivering despite it all.
He’s trying to come to terms with… all of it, with the vault and the Entity and everything before and after. The drive is locked in a secure location where nobody would have even a chance of reaching it, and Luther’s funeral was two months ago, but the mission still hangs over him. Especially in times like these.
He shivers again, a little involuntary jerk of his hands, his shoulders. He’s unsure how much of it is from his electrocution in the coffin in this very city and how much of it’s from his several plunges into the Arctic Ocean, and he’s not sure if he wants to find out.
He manages, anyway. It’s not a big deal to just throw an extra jacket on, to cozy up on the couch with a blanket or two and wait for the bone-deep numbness to pass. He’s faced far worse things than just the cold.
