Kaidan wishes that were true. He sits down in solidarity, the back of his aching head pressed against the panel that separates the cockpit, and listens to Joker breathe through his pain, bitterly reminding himself that the galaxy doesn’t owe them a single goddamn thing. Not really. That dotted line had always been a thinly veiled sacrifice.

These were my darlings, created when I was devastated by the ending of ME3 and driven to fanfiction. I wanted Shepard to be the happiest, silliest version of himself possible, to lessen the sadness of all that was lost during the Reaper War.

In another life, one where he didn't join the Alliance, Shepard would have likely stayed with Tenth Street Reds. Knowing himself, he would have also very likely risen up the ranks, possibly ending up as the head of said criminal organisation, becoming a dangerous and infamous leader in the shady underworld. Said position in the gang would certainly come with many benefits, such as power, riches, and people wanting to sleep with him. Or it could bring the eye-catching presence of a handsome, skilled and almost annoyingly nice newbie by the name of Alenko who is quite obviously attracted to him, much to Shepard's amusement.
As luck would have it, Alenko just recently made a huge mistake in one of their operations, and now, Shepard has to find a way to punish him...
