‘Of course he does, my dear,’ Moominmamma had automatically responded as they’d watched him and Moomintroll busily going back and forth with the wheelbarrow and cart, hauling luggage down to the jetty.
‘I don’t think he does. He doesn’t know at all.’

Summary
Moomintrolls had always built houses for their spouses. Pappa had done it, and one supposed every other generation had as well. There was nothing better than a house to cement one's commitment or attract a suitor.
When Moomintroll, driven by a late quarter-life crisis, left the valley to do just that, he was not expecting said suitor to be an oblivious Snufkin. Especially after 4 years apart. But fate had other plans, and it seemed intent on not letting them move on from their childhood infatuation.

“Now, now,” Snufkin told himself. “It could be a coincidence…”
A coincidence, that a poem with the exact same title and opening lines as his own work had made its way to publication? Unlikely.
Snufkin didn’t have his original copy to compare the stolen poem against. He only enjoyed writing poetry. Afterwards, he never really wanted to revisit it or share it. He just left the old notebook behind somewhere and procured a new one, ready to start again.
There was no denying the familiarity, though. After hearing it in Moominpappa’s voice, he couldn’t remember when or where he penned it, but the work was certainly his.
That didn’t solve the issue of how this De Hemulton fellow had come to claim it as his own, or why.

Summary
Snufkin returns to Moominvalley, but some things have changed. Following an accident which took place while he was away, Moomin has become thoughtful and distant. It isn't until Snufkin is about to leave the following year - and is prevented from doing so by a sudden, persistent illness, meaning he must spend winter with Moomin for the first time - that he learns the full story and comes to understand how best to help his friend.
In the meantime, Snufkin realizes his own feelings have begun to change, and must decide whether his fear of losing freedom will prevent him from accepting a place in the hearts of those who care for him most.

It was terrifying. Here it was, finally, the disaster she’d so believed in. Mrs Fillyjonk wanted to bolt back up the stairs, locking the door and the disaster behind her.
She perhaps would have, if she were not a little thrilled as well.
At the foot of the stairs, there were something sneaking on top of the trashcans. Barely able to breathe, Mrs Fillyjonk swung around to shine her lamp on it.
“Ah!”
The disaster collapsed, bringing the bins down with it in a cacophony of metal clanging. The disaster had fallen in, head-first, and was rolling around on the floor with her short legs kicking desperately.
“Misabel?” Mrs Fillyjonk gasped.
“Madame?” came Misabel’s muffled reply. She sat up, the trash can still lodged on her head.
What a disappointment! Finally, a real disaster, and it was just little Misabel rummaging through her bins!

Summary
Mymble was a creature of habit, as most tended to be. She woke at the same hours and liked the same types of boys, she did as she pleased and went as the wind blew her. It seemed that all at once her whims had begun to whip her in all different directions, though there was a common thread to the chaos. As the water rose and bubbled over her heart, she found herself intrigued by a new friend called Too-ticky.
(Unfortunately on hiatus, while I have every intention of finishing this story I've totally lost the beat of it.)
