    There is an unspoken rule, kept by any outsider who's ever set foot in Gotham, that you should only ever visit the city once. (For some, even once is far too much.)

    The most dangerous city on earth isn't kind to its residents—much less strangers who don't know how to watch their pockets or keep off the streets after dark. It's gotten better, perhaps, in recent years since the Bat started lurking on rooftops, but that doesn't mean the city is good.

    Normal people stay as far from Gotham as they can get.

    Marinette, (un)luckily, is far from normal.

    The story of Marinette stumbling upon the illustrious Wayne family over and over again, as well as the more infamous Bats, over the course of her many visits to Gotham. She, of course, charms the whole lot of them and finds that the same is true in the reverse.

    Marinette is the Star of the Order of the Miraculous, the still-in-training head, as well as the True Ladybug leading the Court of Miracles. After years at Hawkmoth's mercy, Marinette has decided that enough is enough and is reaching out to Batman, the detective of detectives to help her track down the villian's true identity. What better way to do this than a field trip to Gotham?

    Damian, the bloodson and heir to both the Cowl and the Demon's Head, wants nothing to do with the French Class who has won the Wayne Enterprises Summer Internship, yet his father insists he needs better interpersonal skills. He supposes it won't kill him to try to work with this supposedly skilled class president if it means that everyone will get off his back for being 'aggressively asocial' (although he will still keep NDAs on standby).

    A seal of fate, a blood right, and a hidden prophecy lead Marinette and Damian on a rollercoaster of emotions, humourous misunderstandings, comeuppance -- and marriage?!

    Basically my attempt at a soulmate AU, full of just about every Damianette cliche and trope I can think of. And some original lore to make it work.

    After the defeat of Hawkmoth and the retirement of her partner, Marinette has been adrift. She can't seem to get excited about what she used to, can't settle into the quiet humdrum of civilian life. Sure, she's has taken over guardianship of the Miraculous, graduated high school, and moved on to a nice apprenticeship. She's moved on from the drama and heartbreak of lycee and from being Ladybug.

    Watching her Chosen and Guardian flounder, Tikki suggests that maybe somewhere else could use Ladybug. That there's plenty of hurt in the world. That they could help. Inspired, Marinette decides to take on one of the most chaotic cities in the world: Gotham.

    Damian Wayne really needs to get his brothers good Christmas presents or else he may be sent off to the Teen Titans because apparently his people skills "leave much to be desired". Succeeding where his brothers failed, he manages to find out the true identity of their favorite French fashion designer, MDC. Getting her to make their gifts would certainly cement his ability to say. The only problem? Those nonexistent people skills might prove detrimental as his email makes himself an enemy that's quite near her breaking point.
    Marinette Dupain-Cheng has had a hard two years to put it lightly. There are no more good days for her, just ones that aren't as bad. The email threatening to expose her, potentially making her already awful situation even more unbearable, comes on one of the worst. Could her reply be the first hint in years of the fire that has been nearly snuffed by her classmates? They both might be surprised to find how much life can change with some well constructed sentences and a couple terribly made aliases.
