An interesting fact: Cardinal was only required to obey Kayaba's orders when he possessed system authorization. Another interesting fact: regardless of identification, no-one could issue Cardinal with orders while in player avatars.
This had not been previously relevant with Kayaba because Cardinal was intelligent enough not to disobey the man with ultimate authority. Kayaba had become used to logging in with any form he desired, but had now cut himself off from the outside world-and it's physical overrides-for good.
Cardinal was now operating without any oversight.
