Summary
The four intruders were standing near each other at the outskirts of the lab. Apart from some minor scuff marks and scratches marring their features, they seemed in decent shape, ready to attack in a moment’s notice. Yet their forms were sloppy. Amateurish. The weapons held by three of the four were stolen from Draxum’s stash, which Leo knew only because he’d originally stolen them in the first place.
Little details that paled in comparison to one glaring thing.
Oh, Leo thought. They survived.

Summary
Legend says Batman had a partner before Signal. A shadow that crawled out from his own to strike fear into the hearts of criminals, only seen when it wanted to be.
Of course, those legends are merely that: rumors. There is no photographic evidence, no video footage, no documentation with the police. Nothing beyond the frantic accounts of terrified civilians and lawless individuals alike, all stale and years old by now. No proof that the living shadow ever existed in the first place.
Disappointing, Damian thinks. It would have been far more satisfying to raze everything Batman stood for if at least one person knew who he was – the blood son crawling out of the depths of hell to drag his father back down with him.

Summary
Macaque finds MK instead of Pigsy and raises him as his own. It’s not a typical family by any means, and things aren’t always perfect, but they’re happy. At least until MK picks up the Monkey King’s staff, marking him as the Sage’s successor, and Macaque’s buried past and discarded debt with the Bone Demon threaten to destroy this new life he’s made for himself.

Summary

A boy perhaps around eleven, maybe older or possibly younger. It’s difficult to tell given the boy has managed to avoid coming face-to-face with him for a couple weeks now.

There’s a whisper of a sigh and a brief icy tap against the skin over his heart.
“You were lonely,” Damian realizes and earns an approving hum. “I see. I… understand that as well. I was lonely here at first.”
He hesitates a moment before holding his hands out, palms facing up. Cold enfolds them in the feeling of large hands. They squeeze gently, so real and so genuine that Damian can practically see them, too.
“But I’m not anymore,” he says and squeezes back. “Not since I met you.”
Damian has never been more lost since coming to Gotham. He finds belonging in the most unexpected of places.

No matter how they antagonized each other, Tim never wanted to see Damian seriously hurt. Maybe nursing a broken nose if he’d been particularly bratty some night, but nothing worse than that. Nothing like this.

It surprised most who met the group, especially the regs who were far too complacent to even think about breaking rules. However, the Bad Batch did have one rule: never leave a man behind.
