My buddy chibipaw has finally chivvied me into making a “liveblog” thingie, in which I will supposedly be reading Homestuck and posting about my bafflement for your entertainment. The whole thing is readable at tumblr but that involves a whole lot of clicking on "read more" tags, and also, who knows when Tumblr's going to decide to yank a post out of public view.

Delightful vid. I saw this debut at Escapade a few years ago.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Manacled is probably the second most-famous fic in HP fandom, right after My Immortal. It'll be leaving AO3 at the end of 2024, probably because the author is annoyed that people are binding and selling it.

AO3's TOS as podfic. Hour and a half long; multiple readers. Delightful use of accessibility technology.

    Bookmarker's Notes

These are 4 complete stories and two abandoned WIPs; they are not a series in the traditional sense. They are all "what if Midoriya didn't get All Might's quirk?" They all have quirkless Midoriya:
    • Hero, working directly with pros
    • Support team, like Hatsume Mei
    • Vigilante
    • Villain (that one has a sub-series; it's two stories)

(And two incompletes; one was looking like "quirkless Hero student at UA" and the other looked like a vigilante variation.)
    They're all awesome.

    Summary

Midoriya Izuku is medically quirkless, not technically homeless, perpetually exhausted and doing his damned best despite it all. He also sees spirits, which might be cool if not for the fact that a) no one else does, b) they really don't like him very much, and c) he's pretty sure the heroes now think he's a villain working for the League.

Aizawa Shota just wants to take down Overhaul, rescue Eri, keep his students alive, get some rest, and find out how this Deku kid knows things he absolutely should not know about his personal life and the Shie Hassaikai case.

Unless Nighteye's right, and the kid really is a villain.

    Bookmarker's Notes

I read this and loved it when I first got into the fandom. Then a few years later, I was having a rough week, and decided this would be a nice comfort re-read, so I went through the archive folder on my ereader to read it again.

Starting at 10pm. I didn't get much sleep that night. (I did not finish it that night.) This has an excellent Izuku-Aizawa dynamic, and wonderful worldbuilding, and I could read another ten novels in this world.
