It started slow, usually.

What took place in the Lycanthropy ward was thankless, rotten work. Sickening for those who didn’t care for the monsters; heart wrenching for those few who did.

In spite of the obvious signs that Remus’ lycanthropy was continuing to make life difficult for him as he got older, he and Sirius have made their life together work and were happy living it. But sometimes reality was difficult to face, especially when it hit like a brick.
