Such a good little ficlet that makes great use of the soulmates trope! It's set in Kirkwall, before, during, and after the rebellion, and its mage-templar pairing is flawed and believable, with only the faintest overlay of romance. And the symmetry in the plot is SO COOL.

There was no Alliance manual for trying to drag two trillion people fighting and screaming through absolute certain death, and there was nothing about what to do when you unexpectedly got spat out on the other side, either. And there was *definitely* nothing about what to do if your hot, older-than-you, currently missing-in-action boyfriend knocked you up at some stage in that sequence of events.

Sweet Jesus, this was fantastic. Wry and deeply emotional, and so, so sweet. Fluff, but not the tooth-rotting kind. Just enough sharp, vivid detail and description to put me there, and the rest is all this fierce, determined, hopeful, warm Jocasta Shepard. I fell in love with this fic. And with her and with all the people she loves, and then I fell in love with her baby.
What a beautiful, beautiful piece of writing.
