He thought of Geralt giving him sprigs, leaves, and petals. Sneaking them into his bag while he half napped under the dappled shade of a tree. Presenting them softly, face unreadable, over breakfast on a crisp wintry morning. Pressing them into his palm after a hunt, sludge and blood smearing from Geralt’s hand to his own, the tips of his fingers flecked with their remnants
Jaskier had never asked Geralt why he gave him wayward plant material. It was so rare for Geralt to reach out to him at all. As a result, Jaskier had cultivated a hard, gritty little ball of desperation in his gut. He was like an exceptionally neurotic peach.

Summary
Despite Jaskier's hard work, there are still plenty of people who hate witchers. They think they're monstrous, inhuman, only held back from violence by a thin veneer of control. One mage has a plan to spread his views by capturing a witcher and bewitching them to remove their control. When the Butcher of Blaviken walks into his hideout, he's convinced he's found the perfect candidate - and a convenient way to get rid of the pesky bard that's been singing his praises.
Jaskier is forced to agree witchers are not human, but that doesn't mean they're dangerous. In fact, he's astounded by how many of Geralt's uncontrolled impulses involve touching.

Summary
The only thing that kept Geralt going after losing Jaskier, first to his own harsh words and then to the turning of time, was that he knew the bard would want him to keep doing so.
Now 800 years later, in modern Detroit, Geralt finally tries his hand at retirement, only to find that his new neighbour is someone he never hoped to see again.
When they learn of the reason why Jaskier is still alive, they have to undertake a road trip together, to figure out how to resolve the soul bound they had accidentally formed all these years ago while struggling with their own feelings for each other.
