The biggest reason, the reason Eddie won’t give this nurse, is that they want it. Buck wants a baby, wants Eddie’s baby, wakes Eddie up in the middle of the night with the wanting of it, and Eddie — Eddie gave Buck his firstborn years ago. He doesn’t see any reason why they should delay it again.

“I’m not pregnant,” he snapped, anger bubbling up to the surface, bitter and hot. He could feel his own anger sitting on the tip of his tongue ready to spit the venom that had been burning him from the insides, it tasted like the same fury that had been eating him alive ever since he’d learned he couldn’t get pregnant.
OR Pregnancy was a tricky thing. It was trickier when you didn’t know you were pregnant and got held hostage. It was the trickiest when your captors find out before you.

Tommy’s hand darted forward, fingertips landing in Buck’s palm, which was upturned on the table, drawing a teasing pattern against his skin. Tommy was giving Buck a look too. Slightly narrowed, intense eyes. Smirk pulling his lips up.
He was looking at Buck like a predator stalking its prey. Buck was blinking up at him through his lashes like he was happy to be hunted.
Somehow, he had convinced himself that it was him and his friendship that Buck was jealous over. That Buck was scared of losing him, and acting a little crazy about it.
He was used to Buck being a little crazy about things— so what?
It had never even crossed Eddie’s mind that he might be the obstacle Buck was trying to get rid of.

Buck sits at the far end of the table in the 118 firehouse, the flickering overhead lights almost mocking the silence in the room. His fingers tap lightly against the table, a nervous rhythm he can’t stop, the sound of it strangely loud in the otherwise quiet space.
It’s just another day, another shift, but everything feels different now. The hum of the coffee machine and the soft murmur of conversations in the kitchen area are the only sounds filling the space. Buck glances over at Hen, Chimney, and Bobby, who are talking quietly amongst themselves. They don’t look his way. They don’t acknowledge his presence.
