Summary
After an earthquake, then cave-in at an abandoned underground G.U.N base (which Sonic went to for very normal everyday reasons), Sonic and Shadow are stuck in the bottom floor together. Their oxygen limited, they must communicate in ways that doesn't use air while they await rescue.
Little did they know, it would be a life-changing experience for the both of them.

Summary
If you were to tell Sonic this was how his day would end, he never would have believed you… probably would have laughed and thrown out a “Yeah, sure, bud.”
But here he is — lying down with a clinging hoglet wearing his chili dog t-shirt, pressed to his chest, letting out soft snores and purrs.
It’s insane… One moment he’s carefree, scoping out an abandoned G.U.N. base with Grouchy Shadow — the next, he’s a dad to a lab-made hoglet using his and Shadow’s DNA of all people? Yeah. Crazy day.
Looking back on it, and how much it’ll change him and everyone around him, he can’t say he regrets his decision that night.
But right now, he doesn’t know that yet. All he can think is: “What am I supposed to do now?” as he pulls the blanket over the two of them for bed.

Or: A Sonadow fanchild AU I came up with because I really wanted to write a slow burn with a LOT of fluff. It might start out angsty (especially with Shadow the Dumbass — but he’ll come around), but trust me, it’s mostly just found family fluff and Sonic learning how to be the best dad possible with help from his friends.
Granted, with lots of bumps along the way.

The last remaining bookstore: Ark Archive, sits in a dark alleyway, nestled away from everything and everyone. It's a relic from another world, run by Shadow, a stubborn soul who refuses to let go of ink and page. Sonic stumbles upon the store one day, becoming its one and only customer.

Sonic turned away first, tired of waiting for an answer. It was getting harder every second he spent near him. He wanted to abandon his pride, his dignity, the way he hurt, everything behind. Crush his self-respect under his feet and hold him tight, so tight he could never run again. But he couldn't do that.
He wouldn't.
Shadow exhaled slowly. Masking everything he was afraid Sonic could see in him. He was good at that. “I didn’t come back for you.”
Sonic’s voice was low. Defeated. Resigned to some extent. “Yeah. I got that.”
Or...
Shadow fucks up an important mission, fucks Sonic over, then fucks off for years.
