Summary
Ichigo sleeps, obviously, but—first with the nightmares of his mom dying, and needing to take care of the girls in the middle of the night when they were little, and then Isshin’s increasingly aggressive “training” over the years—he doesn’t sleep deeply. Not in his own house, and certainly not anywhere outside of it either. He’s learned to get shut eye when and where he can, but he’s never so deep under that he can’t snap to awareness in an instant if he needs to.
It often leaves him feeling restless, a little strung out and tense, but it’s fine. He’s gotten used to it. He’s long-since learned how to walk the knife’s edge of exhaustion.
But.
But not at the Urahara Shoten, apparently.

Summary
"There's nothing left here in this moment, Kisuke I have no more miracles left but you- and you are everything. My final hope and my last revelation. I have lost but I cannot let you fall with me." Ichigo murmurs softly, his fingers wipe the tears dripping past Kisuke's sunken cheeks.
Something cold settles in his belly- a visceral fear he hasn't felt in forever.
Because something about this, the way Ichigo traces his figure with desperate eyes, it reeks of a final goodbye. Something about this moment is tragic and horrific and Kisuke's instincts have never failed him before.
"Ichigo what are you-"
Ichigo moves before he can finish the sentence, pulling him into a searing kiss, it tastes overwhelmingly of salt. The aftertaste left behind from the tears hanging between them, unaddressed. It tastes of love, the weight of Ichigo's adoration leaving him breathless in its intensity. Kisuke clutches onto him, desolate.
With a desperate sob, Ichigo pulls back, "You said I've never done anything that has required an apology from you, I'm sorry Kisuke, this might just be the point where you draw the line."
Before he can reply, before he can even blink- Kisuke is unmade.
