She thought she knew what she’d see. Imogen, huddled on the bed in the dark, in pain. Laudna would get her a glass of water, which would be insufficient, and some painkillers, which would be insufficient, and curl up next to her, which would do nothing but make Imogen breathe a little easier. She had been so sure that she struggled to understand the contradiction of the sight before her. All she could do was stare.

Summary
The first time Imogen told Laudna about the storm it was, appropriately, storming.
Laudna’s eyes had been swallowed by a blackness darker than that of the night surrounding them, catching and reflecting even the most minuscule scatterings of light in a way that made her gaze look full with shooting stars. She had taken her leather-shielded hand to hold in both of hers as she listened. It was the first time she could remember someone taking her hand simply to hold.
She said, here is what she knows of the storm: it is unrelenting, it is violent, it is hers.
In the time that has passed since that night the same things that have changed about the storm have changed for her and Laudna—which is to say, nothing at all.

Summary
Imogen is fine being single. Seriously, she is. Why does she even need to think about that right now?
She’s barely settled in her new place, even if it has been a couple years already. In reality, she’s not really sure if she could handle any more change without flying off the handle and committing some kind of social felony.
So, when the only mother figure she’s ever had, Deanna, brings up the prospect of her lovelife, it’s a safe bet to say that she panics.

Imogen and Laudna hadn't had much time to themselves since the kiss, and they just wanted some time to figure it all out. By "figure it all out" they meant "kiss a whole bunch", and they loved their friends - they did - but these interruptions were getting a little ridiculous.
4+1 in which Imogen and Laudna's alone time is interrupted by their friends, who are varying levels of clueless about it.

It wasn’t that Arlo had been disappointed, initially, when Auggie had appeared with a request for a bath.
Not really. In fact Auggie having the courage and vulnerability to show up at her room and request to bathe there made something inside her chest creak open a little. Much like it had when he’d introduced himself with a nervous loosening of his smudged collar. Or when he’d looked at her with open awe in his eyes when she’d said he’d done well, their first assignment.
Or when he’d tried, admirably, to step in when she was being unceremoniously removed from the art gallery.
In fact, if she didn’t recognise exactly what she was feeling, she’d be quite concerned she had an unfortunate heart ailment.

Summary
She and Imogen fluttered about the house together, knocking elbows and hips, spending easy hours luxuriating in the blanketing peace of knowing this - this house, this life, these hands together - was theirs to keep. Laudna basked in getting to spend time arranging the place just so, knowing they would be staying, knowing she could take her time finding the right places for things without having to worry about strategizing exit routes.
The problems of the children of Drear could get the same treatment - the right solutions, well considered. There was no need to rush. They weren’t going anywhere.
After everything, Imogen and Laudna get their home, and the town of Drear gets a dose of magic mending.
