The daisy had torn out half of his eye with it. It dangled off the stem like an alien growth. The flesh of his eye was soft and mushy and yellow and the rainbow blood flowed in streams down his face. Oh god. His eye. He could see the blood clot in the socket in plasticky clumps around the rawest parts, forming barnacles and bumps on it. The different colours made him feel even more nauseous, and when it dried he vomited again at how it fell off in flakes onto his floor. He gagged slightly as he scratched off the remaining bloody crust from his eye, trying his best to not poke his pupil. He shut his eyes to try stop the sick rising in his throat. When he felt fairly sure he wasn’t going to vomit again, he cleared up the mess on the floor, practised his smile, then stepped out. -
