Summary
Thrud grew older year by year with a hope of it getting better. The promises would work for a few days or months at the most, but they all fell apart at some point. Finally, one of her uncles pushed her past the limit, not knowing that her family would lose her forever.
Off on her own, Thrud does the unthinkable and finds a way into Midgard. The broken family she meets there gives her a second chance, a clean slate to try to be normal again.

Everyone had heard the warning Ambrosius had spoken. Everyone assumed the consequences for taking a tumble off the golden brick roads sufficiently dire to warrant them. Not a single one of them were prepared for the ramifications, nor could they be expected to. Death was always the shadow on their heels; nobody hunted the Grimm with anything less than certainty that their life could end with one mistake. A brief detour into another dimension would probably have been an unenviable fate, but a survivable one that did not greatly subvert the status quo.
This is not that story.

In hindsight, it should have been obvious. The way Rumi refused to go to the bathhouse, her bizarre relationship with Celine, this whole thing with the Saja Boys? Mira prided herself on reading people, and she felt stupid for not seeing it sooner. The pieces were all there, just waiting to be put together.
Rumi was gay.
The night after the joint signing with the Saja Boys, Mira went to confront Rumi about her ongoing weird behavior. Instead of letting hurt feelings drive the conversation, Mira took a minute to try and figure out what might be wrong. Unfortunately, she came to the completely wrong conclusion.
Misunderstandings ensue. They talk it out.
