~“Lo’ak!” Neteyam’s panicked voice rings clear a second before everything goes dark.
Trembling arms around him are the first thing he’s aware of as he slowly comes back into consciousness. Something rough is wrapped painfully tight around his arm. Someone’s patting his cheek and shaking him. “Lo’ak? Hey, baby brother, I need you to open your eyes.”
“We should get mom.” Kiri sounds like she’s on the brink of tears.~The kids aren't alright, especially Lo'ak.

~Loud music, flashing lights, and the overwhelming smell of alcohol and sweat wasn’t Severus’ idea of an enjoyable Friday night. He’d much prefer to have been in his quiet dorm studying or watching the stars and cuddling with Remus in the astronomy tower, but Lily begged him to come to a party with her. She’s worried he doesn’t spend enough time with his peers.
So, he’d allowed Lily to hunt through his sparse wardrobe for the only nice shirt he owned and a pair of jeans that didn’t look like they belonged in the rubbish, and drag him to the crowded Room of Requirement after dinner.~Lily managed to drag Severus to a party.

Regulus glances to the door. “I’m scared,” he finally confesses as Sirius finishes tying his shoes.
“I’m scared, too. But it’s not safe here for you anymore, and it hasn’t been safe for me in years.” Sirius slings the duffle bag over his shoulder and stands. “We have to leave now. Do you think you can run?”~There is nothing in this world that Sirius loves more than his brother, and there's nothing that he won't do to keep Regulus safe.

~“It’s okay,” Adam breathes, stopping the apology that always follows the shout. “I’m okay.”
“Please don’t lie to me.”
Pushing off the wall, Adam crosses the room. He wraps his arms around Nine, careful to avoid touching the bandages covering his left shoulder, promising, “It was just a reflex.” The tiny hiccups and trembling are the only signs of the tears Nine is trying so hard to hide as he lets his head fall to the crook of his partner’s neck.
They’d been so worried about dying in that final battle that none of them had thought about what would happen after. None of them had stopped to consider how they’d have to somehow go on after the war. The wounds that would never heal right. The faces that would haunt their nightmares. The instincts that kept them alive that didn’t translate in any way to domestic life.~They both survived the war, but missing pieces and constant reminders prove moving on will be the most difficult battle they've faced thus far.

A familiar silhouette framed in moonlight stands on the rail at the edge of the observation deck, dark curls dancing in the wind. The figure holds a crumpled parchment in one hand and a nearly empty bottle in the other.
Mentally, he clings to the boy's thoughts as he rushes to wrap his arms around his slim waist. “Sirius,” he calls over the wind. “What are you doing?”~Sirius can't take it anymore. Severus refuses to let him make a massive mistake.
