Hasn't been long enough to make it official, they never treated it seriously enough to be anything important. Not important to tell friends or family.
But definitely important enough to be a secret hidden in plain sight only because they both believed there's already enough eyes on them as is with their on-circuit, very much public disputes.
They think they're being careful enough for it to stay that way; hidden and entirely personal.
And for a while, that was the case.

His mind wouldn’t let it go for the rest of the summer. The faint scents of both Mark and Mitch that had lingered on the hoodie after all these years, the folds in the hoodie that were moulded to someone else’s shape, and that photograph tucked inside. It all screamed of an intimacy that Oscar would never have. Could never buy.
Mark loved Mitch, or at least had once, and Mitch hadn’t even needed to pay for it.

Gerri was going to hate him.
That’s the first thought that runs through Roman’s head as his body hits the tarmac. Gerri already hates him. She’ll hate him even more now. He can practically hear her voice ringing through his head, momentarily masking the throbbing sensation in his forehead.
The second thought he has is that his body has just been hit by 2,930kg of Mercedes-Benz metal. That was going to leave a bruise.

It’s 2:13am when Gerri’s phone rings on the bedside table of her hotel room. She momentarily considers throwing it across the room. Technically she no longer works for Waystar Royco, even though she’s confident Roman wouldn’t have bothered with the paperwork. Her resignation letter is sitting in the drafts of her inbox, ready to go at 9 am tomorrow morning.
She was done. Out. Off the team.
The phone keeps ringing. A fourth ring. A fifth. A sixth. Until her hand shoots out from under the duvet and she instinctively answers it without looking at the caller ID.
Somebody better be fucking dying.

Sebastian leaned back, chewing his lip. A username. Something that didn’t give anything away. Something that still… felt like him. His eyes drifted to the window, the sky above Monaco already streaked with velvet-blue darkness. Midnight.

“Midnight,” he typed, then hit the create profile button.
Some hours later, the app lit up with little notifications—pings from people looking to connect. Some sent short introductions, others emojis. Most felt shallow, performative, like the digital version of shaking hands without meeting someone’s eyes.
Sebastian opened the app to see what kind of messages he’d gotten. He was about to close out of the app when one message stopped him.Halo: “You don’t seem like the kind of person who enjoys small talk. Am I right?”
Sebastian blinked at the bluntness. He typed back before he could overthink.
Midnight: “You’d be correct. I’m not very good at it.”
A reply came quickly.
Halo: “Good. Neither am I. I’d rather talk about something real than how bad the weather is.”
