    She tries to remember if she ever thought Alicent would be a good mother, but it is difficult to think back.
    Her conclusion is that she probably never stopped to consider it, the idea of Alicent’s motherhood was so distant and far off it felt silly to dwell on. It had also been painful to think about, Alicent as a mother meant she had been married off to someone who could take her away.

    She had once made Alicent promise that she would convince her father, the hand, to marry her to someone at court so they wouldn’t have to part, what an irony it is that what was once her greatest wish is now the reason for her greatest sorrow.
