Peeta Mellark has been rescued from the Capitol, but he's not the same boy with the bread Katniss once knew. His highjacked mind has opened his eyes to the real Katniss Everdeen. She's selfish, surly, and indifferent towards him, and he hates her for it. He's angry that he was abandoned. Again. He's bitter that everyone seems to have moved on without him. Late one night, he gets a visitor in his hospital room in District Thirteen. Someone who tells him they can give him something impossible: A second chance. He has nothing in this timeline. No family, no friends, not even memories he can trust. So he accepts.
Peeta finds himself in District Twelve on Reaping Day of the Seventy-Fourth Hunger Games. He vows to do it differently. This time, there will only be one Victor, and it won't be Katniss Everdeen.
As he struggles to survive the 74th Games for the second time, he finds that some things can be fixed, but some things are just inevitable. As if no matter what he does to change it, this would've happened anyway.

With her dad’s old guitar, a few dusty dresses that apparently belonged to some of his cousins and aunts and the songs seared into her memory, Katniss starts unknowingly stepping into the shoes of long forgotten performers and singers whilst also constantly running into her Boy with the Bread making cake deliveries and awakening something in her.
Her discovery of her Covey heritage also gets her involved with the Revolution, becoming a voice for the people of all Districts… and the ghosts Snow thought long buried.
