I know you’ve been a little lonely, and there’s no reason not to give it a shot now! The house is entirely unpacked, and decorated even, because I’ve never seen anyone nest as much as you do. And you’re done with the academy and your parents still haven’t reached out. Come ooooon, Eddie,” she finishes with a whine.
“No.”
“Eddie.”
“No!”
“Edmundo,” She pushes, purposefully over pronouncing the syllables of his name and he glares at her.
“I’m not taking part in a fucking mating run, Shan! Drop it.”
She rolls her eyes, finishing off her beer and then snatching his up and chugging that one as well.
“I’ll convince you,” she mutters, pretending to gag at the warm beer.
“No you won’t,” he laughs.

“Good job, Mr. Buckley,” Firefighter Diaz says, once he’s standing right in front of Buck. He holds out the small toy, eyebrow quirking up. Is everything in slow motion? Buck thinks everything is in slow motion.
It feels like it takes forever for him to reach out and take it, but time seems to speed back up when their fingers brush, just slightly, during the exchange. He breathes in a little too sharply and nods at him, like, yes, an idiot, and his mouth is moving before he can stop it. “Uh, yes, yeah, thank you.”
...or, Buck’s an elementary school teacher. Eddie’s the hot firefighter that visits his school for a fire safety assembly. He is so normal about it. Seriously. Just ask his coworkers.

Jin Guanyao is in the Unclean Realm again, playing for Nie Mingjue. It should have been just like any other day but Nie Mingjue had been particularly cutting so Jin Guangyao gave the music a little extra push. After all, it would only make him a little sicker. In the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't really make a difference. Turns out, he was wrong about that.
Lan Xichen has had a brilliant idea on how to help both Nie Mingjue and Lan Wangji and he couldn't wait to share his plan. God, sometimes it is so frustrating how well Chan knows him. That he knows when Felix is going to argue so he stops it before the words even leave Felix's mouth. That he knows the difference between when Felix is refusing to talk and when he simply can't.
