Xiao's eyes are wider than usual, but Aether struggles to read the emotion behind them for the first time in a while. His golden eyes flit back to the instrument, and suddenly he holds it like it's a precious jewel, like he could break it with the slightest wrong move. "Oh," he murmurs, voice barely a breath over the soft breeze.

It's basically just two stories of Zhongli and Childe being a mess who don't know how to act human - each in their own fucked up way.

Childe sighed. “When it comes to planning a wedding, I think I might be out of my element.”
Zhongli’s arms came around him, pulling him even closer to his chest. “That’s alright. Organizing something is well within my capabilities,” he said.
“I want to help, though.” Childe insisted.
Zhongli’s sonorous voice was soft in his ear. “Of course. With this, and with all else, our marriage is a covenant. From now on, we’re a team.”
“A team, huh? I’m not used to having anyone in my corner.” Childe said, and he tried not to think of just how long he’d been on his own.
“Nor I. But, that does make it rather exciting.”

Childe never expected he’d get called back to Liyue Harbor so soon. Truly he never planned on returning to the nation but it wasn’t his decision to make. As her vanguard it was his duty, he would go wherever Her Majesty dictated. The Harbinger was her loyal servant to do with as she pleased but the man fully believed the show was over in the nation of Geo. The curtain call had come and gone with himself thrust into the spotlight, featured in the starring role of the fool.
He was mistaken, there was an act yet to start and whether he liked it or not Childe was the lead.

Summary
Being a fox and having fox-like instincts was a whole new experience for Childe. He didn’t know how to handle it. He didn’t know who to turn to. He didn’t even know how to stop making these embarrassing sounds.
It was all Zhongli’s fault. Or should he say Morax or Rex Lapis?
This all started because of him. Because Childe just had to love him and accept him. He was lucky he escaped Liyue when he did. When Zhongli betrayed him was the last straw for him to stay in Liyue.
Childe was tempted. He was so tempted to give up being in the Fatui and being a Harbinger. He was so tempted to stay with Zhongli had he only asked him to.
But… instead, he was lied to and betrayed. It was too late to stop the process though. Childe was now in enemy territory with new instincts and a new form and he just couldn’t get a grip on it all. (He tried to ignore the fact that Skirk would be so disappointed in him)

She allows it because she’s so done with watching her two abyssal harbingers dance around each other.
