Summary
Terra is not like Aqua and Ven.
They don't speak about it. They don't acknowledge it. Terra isn't sure if Ven even knows. But Terra has never forgotten there is something dark and terrible inside him. Still, with Master Eraqus's help, he has long since sealed that part of himself away. Now at eighteen, Terra is confident he has overcome his darkness.
But everything changes when a new threat appears: a masked stranger with the ability to consume light - one who is fixated on devouring the very hearts of Terra's friends. Each encounter makes the enemy stronger and his friends weaker. Each countermeasure makes the enemy smarter and crueler. As the castle descends into fear, Terra realizes he may be the only one who can save them.
But to do so, he needs to discard everything Master Eraqus taught him.

He looked down at his hands. Dried glue clung to the edge of his thumbnail; there was minor redness on his fingertips where he had accidentally burned himself. He supposed he was implicated with this project now, and though his creativity didn’t usually spin in this direction, he couldn’t say implication was an inherently negative experience. Ferb shrugged. His hands hovered for a moment before he pressed another shred of bubble wrap into place, twisting it between the radius and ulna, gluing down the edges so it wouldn’t fall loose.
Beside him, Haleh let out a satisfied hum, as if that small action had solidified a pact written in permanent marker.
There’s a new neighbor who visits the Flynn-Fletcher household with a very odd request. She and Ferb may or may not begin to bond over a plastic skeleton, bubble wrap, and painted golf balls.

Summary
Sarai knew to always stay within Baba’s sights when he worked.
Once, when she was little, she’d tried to play with him while he ignored her, kept busy shoveling the filth left behind by people and their horses and donkeys. “Hide and seek,” Sarai had explained, shaking, after he’d found her.
Moments after she hid, he’d dropped his shovel and began screaming her name, running around the street. Even when she’d popped out again, it had taken a few minutes for Baba to release her from his arms, look her in the eyes, and make her swear to never play that game again.

In greco-roman times, a young girl and her father tried to survive in a world that seems to be against them. Sarai thinks that her father can handle anything, watching from the sidelines as he saves them again and again, telling her stories about the past and Mama, and the future when there will be Away.
The older Sarai gets, the smaller Baba becomes, and the further Away seems.
