Summary
Vessel has spent his entire life in the suffocating grip of the Church of Final Baptism, moulded from birth into a sacred vessel for the words and will of Father Phorcys. Trapped in layers of spiritual manipulation and quiet despair, Vessel submits to a marriage he never wanted, believing numb obedience is his only escape.
But submission is laced with cruel words and hidden torment, and his marriage is little more than a cage. One night, when Phorcys declares them both unworthy and drives them off a cliff into the ocean, Vessel assumes his final breath will be one of cold terror.
Instead, he wakes, barely alive and still beneath the surface, in a glowing cave tended to by creatures of myth. A pod of mermen: II, III, and IV. Each one stranger than the last, inexplicably kind, and devoted to helping this strange land-creature survive.

Summary
Vessel would do anything for Sleep and so Sleep would do anything to Vessel.
It's a symbiosis, of sorts. Mutualism, bordering on something better. Parasitism, bordering on something worse. The ways of the old gods can hardly be defined by human standards.

Summary
Maggot, pupae and worm, the trains writhe through the station; thousands of footsteps echoing like an off-key choir, thousands of faces passing by in ivory. Carved and motionless. Oblivious to him, to what he’s done, to who he is becoming.
As he sits there, salt-licked and still rocking with the tide, a burn in his stomach reminds him that maybe there is still some of him left–something he’s not sure is good or bad.
Please, mind the gap, man of God; lest you fall too far.

Summary
“Hi, this is Dwight calling from Dice Industries, it looks like your current subscription is about to expire, would you like to renew it now?”
“How did you get this number?”
“Your information was provided through our subscription services, if you--”
“I don’t think you understand,” the voice interrupts. “No one has this phone number, except the police. Are you with the police, Dwight?”
--
Dwight dials a number that he really shouldn’t have.
