“My favourite season is spring,” he continues in a low voice, pulling Will back towards him, impossibly closer. He lets Mike bring their foreheads together, just resting, two halves of one whole. Mike continues to stare into his eyes intently, seemingly attempting to build up his courage, searching Will's eyes like they might hold the words he is looking for.
“Spring,” he whispers again, like a prayer. “When everything is green again. When the wind blows warm but not too hot. When you can feel the sun but it won’t burn you. When the flowers grow anew and herbs are plentiful f-for recipes and… s-spells…” Will's breath catches in his chest at Mike's words, feeling like Mike is looking into his soul, reading from it like a book he’d find in the very back of the library, left alone on a dusty shelf long ago.
