The sound doesn’t echo because the trees are so close here, but it still feels like a beacon to lead their enemies after them—as much a proclamation of their current location as the trail of footprints he’s leaving behind, or the drops of blood staining the pristine white blanket covering the ground.
Those, at least, have trailed off. Loki doesn’t want to think about what that might mean. He’s still alive, thank the Norns—the labored breathing in Loki’s ear, almost loud enough to drown out the sound of his footsteps, is proof enough of that. Proof enough that Loki hasn’t failed. Yet.
(When a mission gone wrong strands them on a hostile planet, Loki pushes himself to his limits in order to save Mobius' life.)

Summary
Loki caught the box as easily as if he’d been waiting for it and opened his eyes, a smirk curling across his lips knowing perfectly well he’d caught Mobius staring. A spark of heat flared to life in Mobius’ chest, one that he’d been trying to ignore ever since that first handshake.
“A—choo!” Mobius barely had time to lift his arm to catch the sneeze, and it was Loki’s turn to take a startled step back.
In which Mobius battles a mysterious illness, trying to keep Loki and the multiverse safe, only to watch his world fall apart.

After being benched for one prank too many, Loki is forced to stay behind in the TVA while Mobius goes away on a mission.
It should be fine.
At least Loki is telling himself that, over and over.
Until the moment the mission team eventually returns, without the analyst in question. Even more than that, everyone suddenly seems to have forgotten that Mobius ever existed.
Apart from Loki, that is.
And so it's up to him to track down his best friend and get to the bottom of this whole mess before it's too late.

Summary
“Has… that ever happened before?” Loki asked quietly.
“I’ve passed out before, sure. But that time there was an obvious cause.”
Loki’s concern must have been written all over his face, because Mobius attempted to reassure him with a smile.
“S’fine, Loki. Probably just low blood sugar or something,” he said, affecting dismissiveness that was not wholly convincing.
When Mobius starts randomly fainting, the cause is a mystery. Hopefully Loki can find and fix it, before Mobius' life is endangered.
