“Ryland,” Simon murmurs eventually, drawing him out with a coaxing hand at the nape of his neck. His palm slides around to support Grace's jaw as he reluctantly lifts his head, exhausted. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I'm fine.”
Simon's mouth presses into a thin line, his frown deepening. “You're a bad liar.”
OR: A reminder of Simon's mortality opens old wounds, and sets Grace onto a spiral he can't escape from. Falling into old habits, he tries and fails to solve his issues, pushing those around him away in the process. Healing is not linear— Grace contends with the idea that he's been broken since the start.

Summary
If he drives fast enough, steady enough, he thinks that maybe he could outrun the tilt of the Earth, that he could suspend them somewhere between seconds, somewhere all for them.
It's a childish want, a desperate one, but one he can't shake. Admittedly, he doesn't try very hard to. Casey wants it so much his teeth ache.

Acceptance, he's realising, is key. Accepting that his old life is gone, accepting that he can't just steal his life back. Accepting that he's not as strong as he'd thought he was, that he'd let things get so bad. That he needed help, and he equally wasn't beyond it.
Accepting that Loki is gone, and Mobius will never stop waiting for him.
(OR: Mobius is learning to heal, one step at a time. But that doesn't mean he's forgetting, and that doesn't make him any less a fool. But he'll be one for Loki. Always.)
