Summary

The foreign, sustained contact made Lucifer’s skin prickle, but it was not the expected nausea of disgust. To his utter horror, deep in the marrow of his bone-deep exhaustion, he found himself profoundly relieved to feel the slightest bit of a comforting, steadying presence—a touch that was not administered in pain or malice. A sigh, steeped in contentment left his mouth. “I have missed you in my arms these last few weeks. I’d almost forgotten what you smell like.”
“Up until a few hours ago I’d have stunk of dust and week-old sweat.” Essek mutters with a soft chuckle, one that Caleb returns deep in his chest as he continues to take him in. “I was able to make stops here a few times,” Essek says after a few moments of stillness, then admitted in a whisper, “I slept in your clothes to feel you with me.”
Caleb’s body shudders and Essek feels a swell in his chest, a thread of excitement, that bud of arousal returning.
