Sara was the only person that understands her. Sara taught, guide and even loved Jean with all her heart. They both have each other. Humoured each other. Played with each other
But then, the world decided to take that very same person away from her simply because she is special
After learning the truth about what happend to Sara. Jean had nowhere to go, she is utterly broken and had no one left to live for. Her life had become utterly meaningless
That is until someone had decided that those three words are all that she needed to hear for her to gain hope. Hope that she could still be loved and to be able to love again
She didn't expect it to be him who uttered those words...

Four months after talking down a telepath who froze a city block, and taking a bullet in the process, Peter Parker is stuck in an exhausting holding pattern. He's grateful for the lack of superpowered threats… and profoundly bored of the routine. After all, there were only so many small-time drug dealers and bank-robbing shmucks who thought they were the next Danny Ocean that could hold his interest.
Then Jean Grey turns up on his couch at midnight, and everything changes yet again. Nobody said the process of going from having no one to having even just one would be easy, even for a superhero.

She had just been traveling around, letting bus lines lead her to unfamiliar cities, possessing strangers in suits to top up on pocket money, touring the motels and hotels of America, laying in their beds, staring at their darkened ceilings in the night for a long time until she could count the slices that the morning sunlight would cut on the ceiling through the blinds, and thinking of those precious words, the words that always rose her up to her feet when dawn came… Thank you is all she can say? Shouldn't she at least begin with "sorry"?
Or: Peter Parker's road to a healthier lifestyle is taking longer than he had hoped; old habits die hard. To top it off, Jean Grey has come back and needs a place to crash at.

This time, it belongs to a very tired, very secretive college student who apparently has no idea why a red-haired girl keeps staring at him.
Peter has university, an internship with Dr. Otto Octavius, and the small matter of being Spider-Man. Jean has her own problems, a missing sister, college, and a growing suspicion that Peter Parker is hiding something very weird.
Somewhere between coffee, late-night studying, questionable movie recommendations, and one very persistent mystery, they become friends.
And then things get complicated.
