Summary
In a mission with Zanka, Tamsy recognizes how quiet he is, when compared to the loud Trash Beasts or his usual teammates.
Zanka is quiet in so many aspects of his life, just as he is quiet in his embarrassment and resignation to the situation Tamsy has literally swept him up to. Tamsy is just happy to help him, if he can't stand on his own.

Summary
After their fights —though it feels more of a game, a test—, Zanka usually finds himself laying down on the ground, hoping to catch his breath. Not for the first time, Jabber joins him there, patiently awaiting him until he was ready to stand back up.
In this softness, in this pause, Zanka's emotions spill. It's hard for them not to, through these "dates" (as Jabber calls them) that show Jabber's emotions for him so transparently.

Zanka can only come to one conclusion, as he hears Goka speak, as Goka secures him over his shoulder.
They still cared.

Summary
The lump in Goka’s throat grows heavy, and he chokes with all the emotions he cannot convey, far too foreign in his chest, far too hazy to put down in words.
...
“Is your flame only good for heatin’ lukewarm water for the Cleaners?” It’s a call to action, for Zanka to snap back into himself, to lift his chin and come back to, with the zest that permeates his flame.
Goka's duty was to the Hell Guard. To protecting as many as he could. He would save as many as he could, his brother included. And, with all the affection he can't think of how to shape, he cares for Zanka in the only way he's been taught.

Summary
Jabber finds it beautiful, the way they bleed in tandem. Even as they rasp their last breaths, he can't help but fall in love with Zanka, all over again.
His eyes don't part from Zanka's face, and the fact Zanka's eyes don't part from his fills him with so much.

Summary
She should have expected it. That, after the failure, after being given the chance to either leave the Raiders or prove her worth "one last time", things would not go down smoothly. But while Konza made the decision to leave, she had stayed.
Zodyl and Jabber are quick to prove how foolish she had been, for taking their words at face value.
// An exploration of how the Shovel Giver's Vital Instrument ends in the Trash Beast core.

Summary
The woman he is introduced to pairs so well with his power. If the ground was uneven, if the ground wasn't solid, Konza had no issue traversing such setbacks.
Life on the Ground had never been easy, Konza knew. So when the opportunity to work with the Raiders comes up, he knew better than to let it pass.
// A dynamic exploration about Konza (the snowshoes Giver) and the Shovel Lady. Before and after their mission regarding the retrieval of Rudo. With a dash of some Jabber&Zanka&Rudo.

Summary
"Are you okay, Zanka?" Tamsy asks, ever so gentle, ever so caring, and Zanka's eyes flutter back open, searching for Tamsy's face. Zanka melts, when he is met with understanding and care. When Tamsy's reassuring smile is so tender it proves to be both suffocating and freeing. "Would you like to wait until later?"
Zanka shakes his head. He is just tripping over himself, tangling on the firm ropes of his affection.
Zanka always found himself captivated by the way his body responded to Tamsy's touch. By the way it took what it was given. It always filled Zanka with an insatiable desire, desperate for more— and Tamsy, always so loving, did his best to fulfill Zanka's needs.

Summary
Tamsy would have never thought he would get to see Zanka's anger, much less his rage. So when he gets to see it at Penta, after Zanka's grief flares when he thinks Enjin dead, he is left speechless.
It was such a glorious, wonderful thing to witness after all, as well as the spiraling aftermath in which Zanka ends up. Tamsy finds himself craving it, Zanka's genuine display of emotions.
// Tamsy's POV, and follow-up to Conflagration. Can be read as a stand-alone.

Summary
It escapes him, without Tamsy meaning it to; the thought begins in his head and ends in his mouth.
"You are adorable, Zanka."
Tamsy had not meant for his observation to slip. To Zanka's mortification, Enjin and Riyo latch onto that and don't hesitate to tease him about it. Alas, even if it amusing to see it unfold, Tamsy knows he has to rescue Zanka from those two.

Summary
Behind the stoic, collected facade of being a Hell Guard, of being a Nijiku, Kyoka is not blind. Beyond the disillusionment, beyond the bitterness of seeing Zanka perform well with that stick as a weapon, Kyoka is well aware of the ways Zanka didn't fit within the family's expectations. Kyoka is well aware of the way Zanka's eyes trail after the blond Cleaner with tattoos.
Which is why she seeks Enjin later at night, when the Cleaner has stopped by. Which is why reluctantly, bitterly, she comes to terms with Zanka's inevitable departure.
