Summary
Halsin had never taken himself for a fatherly man. That was, until he found an elfling in Szarr’s basement. Will he be able to care for this terribly abused child?
—
In which elves grow and mature until they reach their majority at a hundred years old. Thus, Astarion being bitten at only 39 has left him in the body and psyche of a child for 200 years.
—
“He’s as real as you and me. He was just— there. Silent and motionless, watching me. I would have missed him, had he not clashed with the wall. It’s— it’s uncanny, Gale. He has the clear evidence of a beating, but I feel there is more to it. We haven’t met each other, yet he is utterly terrified of me. A abused child’s wariness toward an unknown adult would be natural, but this is— animalistic fear. And his wounds, Sylvanus—”

Summary
Alternative scenario of Astarion being turned.
This is chapter 14 of Investigation Turned Rescue Mission. Since it can be read alone, if figured I would post it as another story too.

Summary
Ghirahim trailed his fingers up the mangled arm, tracing the intricate patterns he’d so meticulously carved into the pale flesh, across those ravaged shoulders, before resting his hands on the boy’s chest, right over his heart. The little hero’s heartbeat fluttered weakly under his fingers, fast, faint, and erratic, skin hot and slick to the touch, chest rising and falling in shallow, sporadic movements to match his agonized, labored breathing.
“Your death will be a sweet refreshment to what remains of my master, and he will eat of your anguish, your suffering, for years to come.”
(or: Ghirahim wants to give his master a gift. What worthier gift than a Hero of Courage? The fact that it's the cursed Skychild's direct successor is just the icing on the cake.)

Summary
Shinra sends its elite soldiers Sephiroth, Angeal and Genesis - along with Angeal's mentee Zack - to investigate a half-man, half-wolf "monster" called in by the villagers of Niebelheim. The description matches that of an omega. But why would an omega be so far away from New Midgar?
They find Cloud, who has escaped from "the Bad Place" and bring him back with them. He and Zack grow attached to each other, but trauma and powerful instincts make it hard to know what's real and what isn't.
Or, the one where AGS insists on healing a traumatized Cloud with TLC before he and Zack can get together.

Summary
“Are you absolutely sure you saw a halfling?” Thorin demanded.
Kili paused as he looked at his uncle. For the first time, he almost thought he saw some hope in those dark blue eyes. His smile softened, he knew how important this was to his family, and to his people. Finding a hobbit was the only redemption for the dwarrow of Erebor, especially for the line of Durin.
He took his uncle's calloused hand and said, “I swear it uncle. At least one hobbit still lives.”
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Of all the tales in Arda, there was none so tragic as the history of hobbits.
Bilbo lived a peaceful life hiding in the Shire. It was quiet, safe, and a little bit lonely. Though loneliness was a small price to pay if it meant keeping his existence a secret. After all, getting captured by the savage dwarves of Erebor meant certain death. At least that's what the stories his mother used to tell him warned.
Never trust a dwarf.
