'Just take me back,' Astarion croaked, on his knees before his old master. The lightning flashes illuminated his pale skin and his snow white hair that peeked out from the cloak."
Tav saved Cazador instead of letting Astarion end his master's life. After the defeat of the netherbrain, Astarion is inexorably drawn back to his Master's side.

Gale, as quietly as possible, conjured a mage hand behind his slyly smirking companion as he continued speaking to him in an almost mocking manner.
“It’s not about my bloodlust this time. I wouldn’t want to taste your filthy blood anyway.” he said, rolling his eyes sarcastically.
“What could you possibly want that is so extreme you, for once, care to explain yourself first?” He said, as a distraction, to keep the attention off the movement his hand was making. Astarion tilted his head down and looked at the wizard like he was prey. This whole situation was highly aggravating. Mystra damn whatever forced him to put his trust in Astarion of all people. Gale slowly snuck the mage hand closer to the pouch.
“Gale, darling, I want you.”
