Summary
In the eyes of James Potter, the world was painted in stark hues of black and white. He found solace in the simple dichotomy of good and evil, where the virtuous were rewarded and the wicked punished. The line between the two was clear as day, and he saw no reason to blur it with shades of gray.
To him, those who donned the mask of Death-eaters were the epitome of malevolence, while his friends were the embodiment of all that was righteous and just. Navigating life through this lens was never too difficult for him, for he had unwavering faith in his moral compass.
But when Regulus Black accidentally makes his way into his life, a figure cloaked in mystery, is caught in the crosshairs of destiny. He stands in the shadows, gazing up at the beacon of his brother, his heart heavy with the weight of his own fate. He is the embodiment of the gray. And yet, he accepts the cards fate has handed him without much complaint. James doesn't know how to label him, how to define him. Has a shred of that reserved little boy that Sirius loved so much still there, or is he now a shell of darkness? His world view crumbles.
And so does his heterosexuality.

Mike froze.
Then he was spotted, and the boy stopped in his tracks; with skillful movements, he quickly slung the rifle off his shoulder and pointed it at Mike’s chest. Mike raised his hands while trying to keep most of his weight on his left leg.

“Mike... did you just make up this game?”

Will smiled, and the tension finally seemed to ease. Mike felt a surge of pride in his idea, even if he didn't quite know what he was getting himself into.
