the final section, i think, perfectly encapsulates the desperately sincere, cosmic, mind-bendingly meta themes of orv — despite fear and pain, despite loneliness and desolation — we take the hands extended to us. we choose to hope, to believe in a future beyond the epilogue, to wake up.
kdj’s perspective (our?? perspective?? :( aghhh wwwww) is masterfully written. his vulnerability, his anxieties, his denial of the love that flows so freely and firmly towards him is so, so deliciously distressing. because of course he’d be wracked with crushing guilt, the weight of entire worlds. of course he knows misery, self inflicted or otherwise, like an old and unpleasant friend. of course, he’s quick to soothe the hurts of others with his own heart bleeding out like a fool.
and so it’s only natural that anyone reading this would hope that! some sense! would be knocked into his damn head. that kdj, beloved reader, chooses to move forward — and consequently TRIGGER THE AUTHOR’S LITERARY TRAP CARD. well played. that was some giga brained manipulation.
