Summary
The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Grian is a vet. After a chance encounter in the dead of night, during which he accidentally saves a villain from the brink of death, he suddenly finds himself entangled in a world beyond anything he could've ever imagined.

“This is bad,” is all Grian says after that, and his wings raise a little higher, heels sliding back a little further. Scar feels — he feels tucked away, almost, like diamond ores in hidden chests, and he doesn't really know what to do with that, or what’s about to happen, so he just squeezes Grian's hand.

Xisumavoid has been careful, toeing the line of caring for his hermits and maintaining the show that’s expected, playing the character of wrath barely restrained. That’s entertaining. It’s always been enough.
It won’t be enough this time.
The Watchers are hungry. They want to play a game, something juicier than another round of Demise, something with higher stakes—and Xisuma should know by now that the Watchers always get what they want.

The circles under his eyes are much less pronounced with only the beginnings of crow’s feet at the corners, though they’re currently narrowed at her. His face is unshaven and unwashed; his hair is long and greasy and brown. It’s a little unnerving how much he resembles her dad.

His eyes are bloodshot, hair sticking out in all directions, and even from a distance Dipper can smell that he hasn’t showered in at least several days. He looks even more tired than Dipper remembers seeing him yesterday, the bags under his eyes deeper and darker than usual. But even with that, and the extreme scruff on his cheeks, he still looks younger. Ford takes another step out the door and lines up the bolt with Dipper’s head, “I said: who sent you?!”
