Summary
Grian is an void-borne eldritch horror older than minecraft itself, and joining Hermitcraft had been the best thing he had done. However, with season 9, he decided to test his abilities with an actual playing field instead of just void. What he creates is the Rift, a multi-dimensional portal. However, instead of going through themselves, something comes through. Grian has to defend his friends and family and expose himself in a way he never has before. How does this turn out and when it comes to Scar, the one person he cares about the most, how do they react? Is this the end of his time on Hermitcraft or a new beginning?

Instead of hitting his head on rock, he hit his head against Etho’s palm. Blinking past the panic, he looked at his dad. Etho took a dramatic breath. Copying him, Grian just—watched him. “It’s going to be fine.”
“What do you mean it’s going to be fine? I’m pregnant and we’re—” I’ve been Cute Guy-ing it up while pregnant. I could have killed them. I could have killed my and Scar’s baby. “What have I done?”

He bites down on the fingers of his left hand, slicing clean through flesh and bones.
He screeches, the pain finally registering.
Scar falls down to his knees, sobbing, chewing his hand down to a nub, hunger and pain the only things he can register.
Eventually, the hunger pains recede, and he stands on shaky legs.
He goes, bandages up his hand, leaving the base to go hunt down some other lifers.

Xisuma stares at the two young men standing across from him.
One of them is short, with messy brown hair and bloodshot, swollen eyes that are only partially hidden behind round glasses. He tugs on his bright red tie and adjusts the collar of his suit so it covers his neck better.
The other is taller, but being on his feet is clearly causing him discomfort. He’s half-leaning against his friend, who is supporting him as subtly as possible. He wears a suit with a dark blue tie, and his collar is also high enough to conceal his throat. The space beneath his eyes is painted with dark circles.
Or, Xisuma interviews Scar and Grian for positions as paranormal investigators at Hermitcraft. In just one interaction, they’ve managed to worry him. He introduces them to the investigators he trusts most, in an attempt to help them.
