“My reputation precedes me,” Agatha grumbled, trying to inhale through her mouth rather than her nose to tamp down the professor’s scent. “What’s up? I have to be on the opposite side of campus in ten minutes, so I’d appreciate making this quick.”
“Oh,” Vidal blinked a few times, stunned by her bluntness. “Yeah, no worries. I was just letting you know that Calderu speaks very highly of you and as long as you’re as dedicated a student as she says you are, I’d really like to keep you in mind for the TA position, should you want it.”
“You have no issue with choosing an omega for a position of authority?” Agatha cocked her head, crossing her arms.
“Why would I?”
She scoffed, raising her chin to communicate she was not intimidated. “‘Cause you’re an alpha.”

“Oh, it exceeded them, Lady Hightower,” Rhaenyra replied, lips curling faintly. “For I expected nothing at all.”

“I—... Was that entirely necessary?” Agatha croaks, dragging a sleeve across her dripping face. Her vision sharpens enough to take in the unfamiliar woman standing over her — all clean lines and quiet authority in pinstriped slacks and a perfectly pressed white blouse, vexation etched into her features as she holds the now-empty water jug like a weapon.
“—And hey, not that I’m unfamiliar with a new face around here,” Agatha adds, squinting. “But I’m at least seventy percent sure I came home alone. So… who exactly are you?”
A small, amused snort escapes the woman. “Your appointed knight in shining armour, starting effective immediately. Courtesy of your mother, after the little performance you gave last night.”

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Dr. Vidal looks up at Agatha with big baby brown eyes. “If you’re anxious, we can stop, or I can give you a pheromone patch—”
“I’m perfectly fine,” Agatha snaps, and then she blurts out, “I’m not nervous!”
Dr. Vidal just blinks at her owlishly, and Agatha presses her lips together. Fuck. What if the doctor connects the dots? Agatha isn’t nervous, just embarrassed. It isn’t her fault she encompasses a physical body and, by objective accounts, Dr. Vidal is attractive.
And smells good.
Whatever.
“Okay,” Dr. Vidal says softly. “My apologies.”

Rhaenyra agreed to meet her father's new girlfriend. She didn't agree to like her. And she definitely didn't plan on trying to pick her up at the bar before the three of them were seated for dinner.
