Mona clears her throat. “I think,” she adds more snootiness into her voice, hoping it would overpower the trembling, “that I need to consult—”

Or, when Scaramouche asks utterly broke (not that he knows it) Mona to fly over to meet him, she has a huge freak out and fumbles her way through. Or not.

She thinks, icy horror stabbing at her heart like the honed blade of a butcher’s knife. What if this was the moment of her death?

Without Hanako-kun.
Was she going to die without even being able to say goodbye to him? Without even being able to see him one last time? The villagers squabble amongst themselves around her, but their voices seem far away, the sound of her own heart pounding more loudly than a large hand against a drum drowning them out.

Nene drops her phone, rubbing her temples in exasperation. “I just wish he and Mitsuba would stop dancing around each other and confess already,” she grumbles, moving to sit up and grab her phone again. “They’re so dramatic. This is giving me hives.”
Amane snorts, rolling onto his back and crossing his arms behind his head. “Honestly, you should be used to this. Have you ever known either of them to be anything other than dramatic?”
Nene flicks his forehead at that, “Oh like YOU have any room to talk,” she retorts, “I can’t imagine a confession from you that ISN’T dramatic.”
