No matter what angle he runs it from he can’t figure out why Charles would make him of all people his emergency contact. Sure they’ve gotten over their silly childhood rivalry and Max would be comfortable calling him a friend, but that’s about as far as he’d stretch it. And that is nowhere near emergency contact material.
Beside, Max would’ve really appreciated a heads up. A simple “Hey, please make life or death decisions for me from now on, Max.” would’ve been nice.
Well whatever, Charles has made him his emergency contract and is now apparently not in a state to make his own medical decisions so if he disagrees with whatever Max decides for him he’ll have to suck it up and remember that he’s the one that did this.

When he found out Max Verstappen was his soulmate, all of that was replaced by resentment.

"You're a fucking coward, Oscar!"
Oscar lets go of the door handle and turns so fast that Lando's breath hitches. Dark, angry eyes meet his as Oscar takes a step towards him.
"Don't start," Oscar says quietly, but his voice is full of anger. His driver room suddenly feels too small, but not in an exciting way. "Don't even dare to judge me if you're not better yourself."
Lando swallows hard at Oscar's words. But what did he expect? Nothing more. He wants to yell at Oscar and shake him, but he knows that wouldn't change anything.
"At least I can talk about it," Lando snaps back. "About us."
He's had enough. This cat and mouse game. If Oscar wants to pretend like everything is normal, then fine, but Lando won't do that.
To his surprise, Oscar laughs. A short, bitter laugh that sinks directly into Landos heart and lands where it hurts the most.
"There is no us. And there never will be."
OR: Lando and Oscar are both fighting for the drivers championship in the 2025 season and for control over a rivalry that’s starting to feel dangerously personal.

The voice cut through him cleanly, flat and irritatingly calm.
Max didn’t move at first. He let the lighter click again, jaw tightening, eyes shifting sideways slightly, only enough to acknowledge the presence without granting it respect.
“The smoking area is over there” the voice continued, slower this time.
Clearer.As if max were a puzzled child.
That did it.He turned, irritation sharpened and ready, prepared to snap at whoever had decided today —of all days— to police him.
The voice belonged to a kid.
Tall. Lanky. Dressed in a garish blue uniform that did absolutely nothing to blend into Red Bull territory. His eyes were what stopped Max cold- too blue, too intense, fixed on him without apology.

The day Max Verstappen broke his collarbone had been so breathtakingly beautiful, he would have never been able to guess what was about to happen. But one second of distraction could suddenly cost his entire career.
Charles Leclerc had no business leaving his family behind to ski in the French Alps, but anxiety had driven him there, only for him to be the one to find Max completely out of it, lying in the snow.
If it was Fate or complete Tragedy, neither could tell as they were forced to spend the rest of the winter break together, stuck in a winter storm. Their proximity became the one thing Max could lean against while he tried to work on his recovery away from any true professional help (there was no way he would risk missing the first races of the next season.)
The only thing he knew was that Charles slowly put him back together, stitching even the oldest of wounds. And perhaps his Christmas wouldn't be so cold after all.
