She hopes Vi is ready to discuss this or she'll need to back off. She waits a beat for Vi to speak before continuing her question. "Why are you so insistent on being the only one who takes care of everything? Why not accept help? Why not let someone else handle some responsibility?"

Caitlyn was not expecting the conversation to turn this way.
"...Vi, I-" Caitlyn started to speak, but Vi's outburst silenced her. She just stared at Vi, who was clearly in pain. "Is... that what you think?" She said quietly.
Vi looking away was answer enough.
Caitlyn didn't even know how to react. She had expected a confession of love of her own, or at least rejection, but this was not something she had anticipated.

The tubes in her arms, the smell of disinfectant, the muffled intelligible voices in the background, Vi aching and exhausted sitting by her shoulder to watch her breathe for hours.

“Why do you want to get there so badly?” Caitlyn asks, looking at the other woman out of the corner of her eye as she wipes down her gun, trying not to show too much interest. Vi makes a grunting sound, still picking at her nails with the edge of her knife.
“None of your damn business.”
Caitlyn huffs. “I’m paying you, so I would certainly say it is my business.”
“You’re only paying me to lead you into a death trap, princess,” Vi says, putting her feet up on the desk and almost getting mud on Caitlyn’s rifle. “Bedtime stories will cost you extra.”
On a search for a historical myth, Caitlyn and Jayce hire a mercenary off death’s row that claims to have been to the site before. But Vi’s ulterior motives, and the growing attraction between her and Caitlyn, threatens the whole expedition.
Not to mention the whole curse thing.
