Summary
On the 21st November 2023, Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish was killed in action in the Eurotunnel, 7km off the coast of Folkestone.
Except the heavily redacted report is all a lie and the emotional scattering of his ashes is all an act.
This is the story of how he survives, how the 141 fake his death, and how he recovers - with Ghost right by his side.
A realistic fic about Soap recovering from a traumatic brain injury and discovering which parts of himself are left, and which parts Makarov stole from him. Full of hurt and comfort, angst and humour, this is a slow burn Ghost/Soap getting together fic with a happy ending.

Simon Ghost Riley can’t be touched. Until Soap comes along. Soap, who has never been scared of him. Soap, who took one look at Ghost and his bulk and his defences and decided not to take them as the warning they are. Soap, who treats him like he’s normal. Soap, who came out of that fucking tunnel with a new scar on his temple and some chest candy to go with it, cocksure and confident, sharper and snarkier than ever.
Can Ghost find the intimacy he so desperately craves and learn to love again? Will Soap help him unlock a part of himself he thought was dead forever?
