Soda committed every muscle, every inch of Steve’s skin to memory. His gut twisted. Staring felt like a crime and Soda remained guilty".

Ponyboy is (barely) coping with the loss of his two best friends and has very little will to survive. When he's attacked in the middle of the night Curly saves him.
"Pony chuckled weakly. "Of course it's you". He let his hand drop. "Go away Curly, I'm trying to get somwehere..." his speech slurred like a drunk and he went limp, his head lolling to the side."I'm not leavin' ya Baby Curtis, just hold on".

Summary
The year is 1995. Ivory Curtis is 14- the age it all happened for his father. He travels back to Tulsa to learn about his father’s past and hopefully save him before it’s too late.
Meanwhile the conflict in Tulsa has not stopped. The divide between the rich and the poor only got worse. So what’s left of the greasers?
Ivory dug into his pants pocket and surface and old Polaroid picture. His father, Ponyboy Curtis, Sat on the porch steps of a white house. Smiling brightly next to him was an older boy with the same face- next to him was a slightly older version of the other two.
The image gave Ivory a warm feeling he hadn’t felt since his mother died. -

Summary

Carls life was perfect, until it wasn't. With his dad in a coma and his mom turning to drinking to deal with her never-ending mid-life crisis and having a new baby, he's forced to struggle through his senior year while balancing a job at the local bar with his best friend Enid and trying to get into college. Until he pisses off two men who his dad had previously put behind bars, which just leads to him catching the eye of the towns newest resident. Carl falls into a Negan rabbit hole when he meets his dying wife at the hospital while visiting Rick.
Or- Lucille is half dead and yet she's still smarter than the two of these morons put together.

Kid looks smart and if he chose to be outside by himself, least he could do was make sure he could defend himself."
