Ben walked through the plumber base, two ice cold smoothies in hand. The condensation dripping down the sides of the cups was a minor, but welcome reprieve from the sweltering temperature in the building.
With record high temperatures in Bellwood that summer, Blukic and Driba had thought it would be a good idea to upgrade the air conditioning system. Unfortunately for the rest of the plumbers there, that idea instead led to the entire system failing catastrophically. They had been without any air conditioning for nearly a week.
The majority of the plumbers on the base had been put on standby until the issue was resolved as many of them were species that couldn’t handle such extreme conditions.
One of such plumbers was the very one Ben came by to see, his partner, Rook.

When he’s assigned to Earth after graduating, Rook gets a chance to meet with the hero Ben Tennyson and quickly learns he’s nothing like Deefus Veeblepister’s portrayal. Now Rook has to deal with the fact he can’t write Ben 10 fanfic like he used to while simultaneously trying to figure out how he feels about this very different, very real version of the hero he loves.
Or, Rook realizes Ben is nothing like he is on TV and catches feelings.
