“You see the switch right there?” He said, pointing to the phallic shaped structure that Kaveh had poked fun at earlier, “It requires someone blessed by the Lord of Dendro, basically anyone with a Dendro vision, to pour their energy into it for the door to open.”
“Oh, so you just have to infuse it with Dendro, right?” Kaveh noted, turning his attention back to the stone construction, “How do you do that?”
“You have to sit on it, Kaveh.”
There was a silence between the two before he promptly turned around, garnering as much distance as possible between the supposed hole destroyer and him.
“Well good luck with that! I’m just going to turn around and be in that corner-” Kaveh said rapidly, trying to dismiss himself of any duty before Alhaitham grabbed him by the shoulder to bring him back just as quickly.
“Oh, no you don’t.”

Having been saved by the Tsaritsa during the fall of Khaenri'ah, Kaveh has lived the past thousand years of his immortal life as a reclusive twelfth harbinger and over the process has learned such life can be painfully dull. In a situation such as the one Fontaine is facing, it is necessary to triage, to prioritize. The people of Fontaine need clean water, unspoiled food, shelter that will not collapse on them in the night, and they need these things immediately. Exports may not be restored for months.
It is only logical that exports of medicine made from a variant of Beryl Conch to treat a condition found in less than one in ten thousand people will be low on the list of priorities.
Even if that medicine is the only barrier between Alhaitham and a gradual slide into death.
