Summary
Viren and his wife, Lissa, have tried everything possible to save their son but have come up dry. The building pressure on Virens marriage due to his decision to become a mage and his son's ailment has led him to drown his sorrows at a bar. He meets a handsome stranger offering him the opportunity to save his sick son.
The stranger offers to seal the deal with old magic to guarantee both sides fulfilled but Viren tries the leave once hears what the man wants. The stranger offers him a pendant then tells him to find him outside the castle walls if Viren changes his mind.

I got tired of writing this specific fic but am satisfied enough with how it turned out. This fic will have stuff in it that isn't answered here but hopefully answered in a series of fics that will connect plot wise.

Xie Lian extended him a hand, his palm open and his long, beautiful fingers welcoming his gaze. He seemed to have predicted Hua Cheng's current state of mind could happen. He flustered a bit, but didn't hesitate. “You’re my beloved husband, my dear. And my most loyal soldier. And my most devoted believer. You've been so brave, so good. You deserve all the kind things in this world.”
Hua Cheng tells Xie Lian about his experience on the Land Of The Tender scene. Xie Lian wants him to know everything is fine, and has a soft spot for his dissociating husband.

Summary
Xie Lian likes that staring at Hua Cheng long enough gets his heart racing. He likes that the quirk of Hua Cheng's mouth when he's biting back a smile is familiar enough that he could trace it in his sleep; likes that he's allowed to look whenever he wants with no consequence other than Hua Cheng's warm, lighthearted teasing.
He likes looking. There are so many things about Hua Cheng worthy of Xie Lian's admiration, but sometimes–he squeezes the wood plank in his hands hard enough to splinter it–sometimes, he wants to touch.
