Summary
The rate at which the new colonies have been growing is uncanny. Arthur and Francis, after a long series of negotiations, decide that they ought to breech their sons together. The children are growing up.
Centuries later, Arthur reminisces.
(Breeching was a process between the 16th and 18th century by which young boys, who were raised in dresses identical to those worn by young girls, were finally allowed to wear pants.)

The title of the series comes from the "Pleading in English" Act of 1362 which ended Law French as a spoken language.
As you might be able to imagine, this series deals mostly with the etymological entanglement of French and English and the implications of it all.
