AU. Harry accidentally Apparates to an empty Grimmauld Place when he’s nine instead of to the top of the school roof when he escapes Dudley’s gang. The house is empty except for portraits and sometimes a speaking wooden face, and Harry has to kill his own food, and there’s something nasty in the cellars, and some of the portraits are mad. But this is still a vast improvement over the Dursleys.

Without any pretext, Mash grabbed Lance by the collar, hauling him close enough for their noses to touch. “Kiss me again,” Mash demanded. His face remained completely blank.
Lance was, very justly, confused. As well as decidedly unimpressed. “And why, exactly, would I do that?”
Mash’s expressionless stare didn’t even waver when he answered, “I’m out of creampuffs.” As though that would explain anything at all.
Lance shouldn’t be surprised. This was, after all, Mash - the singular most unpredictable and one-track-minded person Lance knew.
“So?”
“The stores are closed already. And I used up my last ingredients,” Mash stated, like it should have been obvious.
Lance resisted the very powerful urge to roll his eyes. This was getting tiring. “So?”
“So I need you to kiss me again.”
In which an accidental kiss leaves Mash with the firm belief that Lance’s mouth tastes like creampuffs. Chaos ensues.
